How To Wire Hopkins Agility Brake Controller 47295 to a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Z71

Question:

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 w/ Tow Package. The Factory Supplied wiring harness has 5 wires. Drk Blue, Red, Lt Blue, Black and Brown. Can You Please help with the connecting of this harness to the 47295 Brake Controller? Thank You

If you have the brake controller port and the OEM supplied brake control harness that plugs into the port and has 5 loose wires, you will only need 4 of these wires. The brown wire is an illumination circuit. Some older brake controllers used a separate circuit to light the controller display, but it is not needed any longer. The colors you listed are standard GM/Chevy and match as follows:

Truck Controller
Red Black
Light Blue Red
Black White
Dark Blue Blue
Brown N/A
