Tire Chain Recommendations for 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

Is there a tire chain I can use on my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500? The owners manual says chains not recommended.

I took a look at the owner's manual for your truck, and sure enough, GM doesn't recommend using tire chains on certain tire sizes. I cannot recommend you do anything that would contradict the vehicle manufacturer's recommendation. I'd recommend checking with your Chevy dealer for clarification.

Many vehicle manufacturers will allow the use of a Class S chain. A class S chain won't extend to the inside of the tire any more than 15mm, which in some cases allows enough clearance between the chain and braking/suspension components.

If your Chevy dealer tells you that Class S chains are okay, simply click the provided link, then click the proper tire size. The available chain sets will be described as Class S or not Class S compatible.
