Install Tips for Lifting Trailair Pin Box In Place for Installation

Question:

I just purchased a Lippert Trailer Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box LC328492 from you. I would like to know if there are any issues with removing the low jaw assembly to make the weight more manageable for installation onto my 5th wheel trailer? I have the one page installation page from Lippert that assumes the king pin is not completely assembled. Can I just reverse the instructions to disassemble?

If you wanted to partially disassemble the TrailAir FlexAir part # LC328492 to make it lighter for installation on your trailer you could. You would just need to carefully follow the install instructions when it is time to reassemble it and be sure to use the correct torque specs.

It's not feasible for a lot of people, but the easiest way to install the pin box is to use a fork lift with the pin box on a pallet to get it lifted up and lined up correctly. We have also heard of people using Bobcats as well for the same affect. Otherwise it will take a couple strong adults to hold it in place while someone else bolts it in place.
