Recommended Performance Tuner For 2007 GMC 2500 Classic With 6.0L engine
Question:
I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500 Classic crew cab. I will be plowing snow this winter and need a way to monitor my transmission fluid temperature. I know it has a sensor but it only lets you know when its hot. Do you have something for that? I would like a tuner so I can make performance adjustments but after sinking $7000+ into a plow I need a cheaper route. And I dont like the idea if installing anything in the line.

If keeping an eye on the transmission temp is most important for you, I recommend a monitor like the Edge Insight CTS2, part # EP84130. This monitor lets you track up to 8 parameters at one time and shows the actual transmission temperature on the screen.
If you prefer a tuner that allows you to change performance of your engine for your 2007 Sierra 2500, then I recommend the Edge Evolution CTS2 Programmer, part # EP39YR. Because of the functions you want to be able to do with your engine, a programmer like the Evolution CTS would be needed, and they tend to be more expensive than a monitor alone.
This programmer allows you to change the settings on your truck for performance and also monitors the vitals of your truck and does include the transmission temperature display you mentioned. Depending on the settings you choose you can get increases up to 24 hp and 22 ft/lbs of additional torque. This system is not installed in-line, but simply plugs into the OBD-ll port under your dash.
If you find you are reaching temps higher than you wish, you may want to install a transmission cooler like part # D13503. To install this transmission cooler you will also need part # D13035. I have attached links to a couple helpful articles about transmission coolers you can check out.
