Using the Rightline Gear SUV Tent with 2011 Honda Pilot Without Draining the Vehicle Battery

Question:

So I have noticed that if the tail gate is open for long periods of time, even if the interior lights are turned off, the Pilot goes into standby and kills the battery. How do you use the Pilot tent attachment with the tail gate, presumable open, and not kill the battery?

In order to have the rear hatch of your 2011 Honda Pilot open for an extended period of time while using the Rightline Gear SUV Tent # RL110907 and not drain your battery, you will likely need to disconnect the vehicle battery.

For an easier way to disconnect the battery, you can use the Deka Lead Quick-Disconnect Battery Terminal # DW05312. This will allow you to use a hand knob to disconnect the vehicle battery. The Lead Quick Disconnect is designed to fit top-post batteries on cars, light-duty trucks, farm equipment, RVs and ATVs. I have attached a review video of this kit for you.
