Recommended Relay For 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Being Flat-Towed
Question:
I have the system completely installed and need info for the brake lights on the tow vehicle. Ive installed the wiring kit 154 Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit for a 2000 Silverado. With the coach cable unplugged, tow vehicle brake lights turn on when brake is activated in the coach. Will this cause a problem back feed, blown fuses, etc. when the coach is plugged to the tow vehicle? If so, what is the remedy? Thanks.

It sounds like you do not have a relay on your Silverado.
I recommend installing the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay, part # RM-88400. This will prevent the Silverado from overriding the brake lights when you do not have the # RM-154 attached. From your description, it sounds like you have the Air Force System, part # SM99243 connected and the cylinder is pressing the brake pedal when the coach pedal is pressed. The RM-88400 will make sure the signal would need to be received from the RM-154 when it is connected.
With the RM-154, and the diodes it uses, the diodes will prevent back feeding into the RV system.
