Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 1997 Dodge Ram with Low Hitch Opening
Question:
I want to put a hitch on my truck. It is a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd 8foot bed, 5.2L. I would like the hitch to be as low as possible as I have a 3inch lift on the truck. Can you send me measurements from the bolts to the hitch centerline for the 3 and 4 hitches that will fit my truck? Vertical Drop Distance Thank You!!!!!

For a hitch for your 1997 Dodge Ram that would sit as low to the ground as possible you would want to go with the Draw Tite hitch part # 41504.
The distance from the hitch mounting surface to the receiver opening would be 7-1/2 inches. Since this hitch is designed for use with deep drop bumpers it would sit the lowest.
Also, to compensate for taller vehicles you can just get a ball mount with a lower drop so that the trailer is towed level.
I attached a help article on this for you to check out as well.
