The Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, # AM3100, attaches to the trailer king pin with a collar system. This system contains a threaded collar and to split collar halves. The threaded collar is installed around the king pin with the X on the bottom of the collar down. The split halves are then assembled around the king pin with the X on the bottom of the halves down and the split collar is pulled down around the split halves. Anti seize lubricant, item # LT37616, should be applied to these parts. Once these parts are assembled, you will need to use a slide hammer to seat the parts for installation of the base of the adapter.
Next, the base of the adapter is threaded onto the previously installed threaded collar. Once the base contacts the pin box the spanner wrench, included, is used to tighten the base to the pin box. Finally, 4 grade 8 bolts will need to be installed through the base into the pin box. Once the bolts lock washers and nuts are tightened the adapter is ready for use.
The adapter is secured to the gooseneck ball with a pin. The pin secures the adapter to the ball when a steel plate is lowered by the cable and T-handle. When the plate is raised, the pin can slide or roll out of the way so you can unhook the adapter.
