How to Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer with 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel with Rambox
Question:
I am getting ready to order a Ram 1500 Ecodiesel with air suspension and 6 foot 4 in box, and the Rambox cargo system. I noticed in one of your responses to fitment questions you specifically stated ¨not if the vehicle is a stepside or styleside¨. Although these box types are not available on the Ram, the Rambox cargo system does intrude into the bed leaving 52 inches overall width. Would this be adequate for the adapter-hitch combo you have recommended for the vehicle? I will be towing an Escape 5.0 travel trailer, about 4,500 lb. wet. Thanks for saving me a possible disaster!

You have a very interesting truck combination, but for your 2015 Ram 1500 with a Rambox there is a solution we can provide.
The only way to tow a trailer with a Ram that has the Rambox is to use a Sidewinder pin box as that moves the pivot point up high enough that the narrower bed rails of the Rambox trucks would not interfere.
You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.
There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.
Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
For a rail kit you will need the part # DM8552030-71 and then for a hitch the part # DM6076P-16K. The correct wedge to use this hitch with a Sidewinder is the part # SWW-05.
