Chevy 2500HD Shows Check Trailer Wiring Error and Beeps While Towing a Trailer

My husband is traveling from Colorado to Indiana and is towing a trailer. when driving the truck started beeping and the check trailer wiring come up on the dashboard. Do you know what this means?

It sounds like the truck has the factory tow package wiring and/or an integrated brake controller. The system is liking detecting a short or some other anomaly with the wiring and/or brakes on the trailer.
Nine times out of ten this can be explained by a dirty or corroded trailer connector on the vehicle, trailer, or both. Make sure the truck and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside where the wires attach and outside on the pins.
Inspect the wiring on the trailer and fix any loose, pinched, or otherwise damaged wires as needed. If the brakes are suspected then the magnets can be tested by following the steps in the help article I have linked.
