Bike Rack Recommendation for 2013 Ford Escape Titanium
Question:
I am looking for a 3 bike, trunk mount for my 2013 Ford Escape Titanium. I found several different trunk mounts, but all have a blurb about excluding Titanium. Why is that? are there no trunk mounts that will fit the escape titanium and why?

Expert Reply:
The Titanium models of the 2013 Ford Escape have a plastic fascia at the bottom of the rear hatch that prevents a trunk mounted bike rack from fitting.
Your best option would then be to go with a hitch option. The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike rack up by three inches providing additional ground clearance. Because of that, this is the rack I'd recommend for you. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch bolt, but a combination anti-rattle hitch lock/cable lock is available separately as part # S64031.
For a hitch you would then want the Draw Tite hitch part # 36529.
