on the la-401 and the 501l, can the support pegs be cut down in length ?

The support pegs, or stand-offs, included with the Stromberg Carlson RV Exterior Ladder # LA-401 and the Surco Universal Exterior RV Ladder # SP501L can be trimmed to length. Since these are universal-fit products designed to work in many applications it will be necessary to do some drilling and trimming for installation. When you are installing mounting brackets and support pegs, make certain that all screws are fastened to the RV's blocking or the sub-frame on the roof.
