Demco Hijacker Fifth Wheel Hitch or Reese Elite Slider Recommendation for 2010 GMC Sierra Short Bed
Question:
I am purchasing a 2016 forest river sabre fifth wheel model 36qbok. 394, 11415 lbs. Tow vehicle 2010 GMC 2500 HD 6.0 . looking at the reese elite hitch. would that be the best hitch for me. I like the idea about being removed, for it is a work truck also. not being pulled all the time. what other things do I need to know before purchasing this product. thanks

I have a great solution for you. Since you are looking for an under-bed rail system that will leave your truck bed empty when the hitch is removed I would recommend you go with the Demco Hijacker hitch part # DM8550022 and underbed rail kit part # DM8551004. Since you have a short bed you will need a hitch that has a slider so that you can have enough clearance to make tight turns.
The Reese Elite Slider hitch part # RP30144 and Rail Kit part # RP30061 is a GREAT option, but this setup has a manual slider that will require you to get out and slide the hitch every time you get to an area where you need to make tight turns, and then again when you head out onto the highway.
The Demco has an auto slider feature that will automatically slide back when needed and then slide forward when straightening up. This will save you a ton of hassle.
