Weight Distribution System Recommended for 2008 Kia Sedona Towing R-Pod 178 Trailer

Question:

Could you please recommend a sway and/or equalizer for towing an r-pod 178 with a kia sedona minivan? Is either necessary and if so, which would you recommend? The r-pods unloaded vehicle weight is 2535 and unloaded hitch weight is 257. Thanks!

First, I recommend checking your owner's manual to ensure that your 2008 Kia Sedona is capable of towing the R-Pod 178.

If you determine your Sedona is capable of towing the trailer, I recommend using a weight distribution system with sway control. Based on your unloaded tongue weight, I recommend the Reese Light Duty Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # 66557. This system is rated for tongue weights between 250 - 400 pounds, and has a gross towing weight of 4,000 pounds. The # 66557 fits 2 inch hitch receivers and can fit up to 6 inch trailer frames.

The Light Duty # 66557 uses a hitch ball with a 1 inch diameter shank, like # 63845 for a 2 inch diameter ball or # 63847 for a 2-5/16 inch diameter ball.
