Necessity of Frame Adapter Bar When Carrying Womens Bike in Trunk Mount Rack on 2007 Nissan Versa

Question:

RE Adaptor bar for womans bike. You recommendinch getting one for the bike rack. BUT does that mean the rack wont accommodate AT ALL a womans bike without the bar, or is this just a way to keep the bike at a level angle? I dont mind if the bike is at an angle on the rack as long as its safe and well attached and am not happy paying more money for this item.

Due to the fact that the Hollywood Racks Express bike rack has rotating cradles, it could very well be possible to attach a woman's bike without an adapter. However as you said, the bike would be carried at an angle. How extreme an angle will depend on the type of bicycle. If the angle is very extreme, the bottom of one of the bike's wheels could be pretty close to the pavement which could damage it.

This is why we recommend the # 64005 adapter bar. It's a relatively inexpensive way to ensure the bike is carried level, which will maximize the ground clearance.
