Replacement Trailer Hub for Old Trailer with 84 Spindles
Question:
I am rehabbing an old trailer and need to replace the old drum brake hubs with new modern hubs. Spindle is 4 inches overall length to end of threads and 3 and 3/16th from outside to outside of bearings. Inner bearing is 1 and 3/8th inches and the outer bearing is 1 and 1/16th. Trailer GVWR is 5000 lbs. I want to go to 5 lug x 4.5 inch pattern. I need your recommendation for hubs, and then also a wheel and tire combo. Original tires were 205-14s.

You will need to use a digital or dial caliper to verify the measurements you took, but it looks like you have a number 84 spindle.
For a hub/drum that will fit your spindle (assuming the measurements checked out) and has the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you want the part # 84546UC3 would work well for you. Or for an idler hub part # 84545BX.
