Fifth Wheel Rail Placement in the Bed of a 2003 GMC Sierra Shortbed

When you install a fifth wheel rail kit like the part # RP50064-58 the rear edge of the rear rail will set 47-1/2 inches from the rear of the truck bed. The front rail will set 22 inches in front of this rail measured from center of rail to center of rail.
The best way to set the front rail though is to use the fifth wheel hitch. What you will want to do is set the rear tabs of the hitch in the rear rail once it has been installed and then use the front tabs of the hitch to line up the front rails. This will ensure that the hitch will install and remove as easily as possible.
