Replacement 72 Inch Long 2,000 Pound Trailer Axle
Question:
I need replacement axles for a trailer. The axles are 72inch long But when I measure the spring centers, it measures approximately 57-3/8inch in front and 57-1/8inch in rear. Will the 58inch spring center axles work, or will I have trouble getting them to fit? Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:
Trailer axle # 20545I-EZ-72-15 could fit in place of an axle with spring seat center spacing of 57-1/8 to 57-3/8 inches. At the very most the spring seats will have to be cut off and new ones, # TRSS175, welded on by a qualified professional welder for a nominal fee.
Another option is an axle-less system, # A20RS545, which is rated for 2,000 pounds and comes with idler hubs. The suspension is built in. With this type of system you will not have to worry about replacing worn suspension parts.
