According to my research your 2008 Chevrolet Impala uses a type 921 bulb for its back up lights. This bulb type is different from those we offer that have a backup alarm. Hopkins part # HM20101VA is a backup bulb/alarm that fits in place of a 3156 bulb and their # HM20100VA fits in place of a 1156 bulb.
For a backup alarm on your Impala you can just add a license plate alarm like # HM60100VA or one of the others shown on the link provided for you such as Custer # BK97DB which is a simple 2-wire installation as shown in the linked video.
