Should Trailair Flex Air Replacement Fifth Wheel Pin Box Be Noisy

Question:

Im new to towing a fifth wheel and I found the rolling plate on the bottom of this pin box is quite noisy is this normal? When it slides forward and back on brake and acceleration in really jars the truck. I put the brake control all the way up and the trailer rarely pushes the plate forward but at the end of a stop it usually slams a bit, and then again on take off! just want to make sure this is normal?

It's very unusual for a Trailair Tri-Glide to be noisy. I'd tend to suspect that the king pin might be rattling around in the hitch jaws, causing the chucking you describe. If your 5th wheel hitch uses a slide bar type jaw or the jaws aren't holding the king pin tightly enough to prevent it from rattling around in the jaws, an air ride pin box, even one as nice as the Trailair Tri-Glide isn't going to prevent all the chucking.

If you'd care to reply with the brand and model number of the hitch you're using, I'd be happy to look into things further for you.
