Placement of King Pin When Curt Q20 # C16530-16021 5th Wheel Hitch is Installed on 2015 Ram 3500
Question:
I will be getting a 2016 Ram 3500 with tow prep package and am looking at the Curt Q20 that s right in. With this Curt hitch, will the king pin be centered over the axle or is it offset forward if so, what amount? Thanks,

The Curt # C16530-16021 Q20 fifth wheel hitch for the Ram factory tow prep package centers the king pin jaws between the pucks. If your forward and rearward pucks are centered on the rear axle, then the hitch jaws and king pin will be centered on the rear axle.
I'm assuming you're trying to determine if you'll have enough clearance between the rear of the cab and the front of the fifth wheel to make turns without having the fifth wheel and cab collide. We usually recommend a sliding hitch for trucks with beds shorter than 8 feet.
To determine if you're going to have enough clearance, measure the distance from where the king pin will sit to the rear of the cab. From this distance, subtract half the width of the fifth wheel at the very front. If the result is 4 or more inches, you'll be able to safely execute a 90 degree turn. If not, you'll want to use the sliding version of the A20, part # C16541 and the # C16022 adapter rails.
