Recommended Lock For Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier

I am looking at purchasing the Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier - C18152. My desire is to change the clevis pin that allows the carrier to ride in an up or down position. I want to put a small lock on the pin instead of the hairpin clip that is included. I saw that you have pins such as MT70053 or 586H that might work. I am willing to drill a hole thru the pin to fit my lock. Any assistance is appreciated.

The pin you are asking about on the Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier, part # C18152 is a 5/8 inch pin. I would advise against drilling through the pin because it could compromise the strength and integrity of the pin but I do have a solution for you.

I recommend replacing the pin with a hitch pin like part # e98882. This is a 5/8 inch pin tat has a covered key slot that helps prevent corrosion.
