Do Weight Distribution System Spring Bars get Installed Before Connecting to Trailer Ball
Question:
My 2014 GMC Sierra Z71 2wd. has a high rake in the rear. It is difficult to line the distribution bars with the trailer frame without putting weight on the truck. The bars tend to angle up toward the frame if I try to keep the truck at the same height in the rear. The head of the hitch will not tilt enough to get it aligned properly. If I lower the rear of the truck with weight from the trailer, to an almost level position, the distribution bars tend to parallel the trailer frame better. Am I doing the right thing or is there a better way.

It sounds like you may be attempting to install your weight distribution system in the wrong order. You want to set the coupler of the trailer on the hitch ball and attach it before you attach the spring bars of the system to your trailer.
Typically people attach the trailer to the hitch ball, and then use the trailer jack to raise the rear of the vehicle high enough that they can attach the spring bars to the trailer, and then lower the jack so that the spring bars are engaged to the system.
Check out the install video I attached to see the installation.
