How to Pick Out Replacement Grease Seal for Trailer Hub

Question:

I have a 73 Yarbrough boat trailer. The hub is 5 lug carrying a 13foot wheel. The seals on both hubs are blown..prior owner overfilled bearing buddies?. Both inner AND outer bearings are LM67048...unknown seal number...the inner race has a half inch pitted. Id like to replace it but I dont find any hubs that match or bearing kits??

Overfilling Bearing Buddies is a very common reason for a trailer hub seal to blow. Most likely that is what happened.

Based on the bearings you said your current hub has you do not have what we would consider a standard hub. You can still find the correct replacement seal though.

To pick out a replacement grease seal you will need to measure the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal rides with a digital or dial caliper and then need to measure the hub bore where the current seal rides. With those two dimensions we can pick out the correct seal that you would need.

I attached a link to a page that has all of the grease seals we carry. You will need to select your inner and outer diameter from the filters on the page and the correct seals will be listed.
