Can a Single Weight Distribution System Be Used for Multiple Trailers with Various Weights
Question:
Looking at getting a weight distribution hitch. I tow alot of trailers all different sizes and loads. Can I just get one setup that would be a best all around fit? I dont want multiple trunnon bars.

Weight distribution systems are rated for different tongue weights and gross trailer weights. They are designed to work best with trailers that fall within their rating. The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use.
If the bars of the system are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.
For example, the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System # RP66559 is rated for trailers with tongue weights between 500-1,000 pounds, with a maximum gross trailer weight of 10,000 pounds. This system would be ineffective on trailers with tongue weights higher than 1,000 pounds, and would cause a very stiff ride with trailers that have tongue weights lower than 500 pounds.
