Will Timbren Axle-Less Suspension Fit a 2000 Prowler 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

New truck is 60inch to bed rails. Old trailer is going into the barn for work. Need to go through the whole suspension and brakes. I also need to raise it to tow level with the higher truck. Would this be a good way to go? Current wheels/tires are 15, hubs are 4.5x5 with electric drums. Was thinking of going to 16inch wheels to get better tires. Your thoughts/recommendations?

If your trailer has just 2 regular 3,500 pound axles now then using Timbren Axle-Less system # ASR3500S06 is an option. It is not recommended though for triple axle applications.

The hubs you have now might fit. They will need to use inner bearing L68149 and outer bearing L44649 and a seal with a 1.719 inch inner diameter to fit the spindles on this system. If you need to also replace the hub/drum assemblies then you can use # 84546UC3-EZ.

You can go to a larger size tire and wheel provided there is enough room for the larger size. With the drop spindles on the Timbren system height should not be an issue but width still could be.

Regarding installation of the Timbren system it may require additional support on your trailer. If your trailer does not have a crossmember above the spot where you want to install the Timbren system, you may need to reinforce the frame. You can accomplish this three ways. First, you can retrofit the trailer with a crossmember. Second, you can build out the trailer frame. Third, you can use standard, 2-inch steel tubing to connect the 2 Timbren suspensions together using the built-in square hole on each unit.

Also, when raising the height of a trailer it will make it more susceptible to sway since the center of gravity is higher.
