How To Wire License Plate Bracket from Peterson Part PM436B
Question:
Iam adding this license plate light to a trailer that never had one. the trailer is a 22 ft long, open steel deck trailer. how do I wire it?

Expert Reply:
Make sure you attach the bracket to the trailer frame directly. This particular light is grounded to the trailer frame via the hardware. Make sure there is good metal to metal contact.
Once you have the bracket mounted, all you have to do is splice the wire lead to the running light circuit of the trailer. This is typically a brown wire. To be sure, hook up the trailer to the truck, and turn on the headlights. Use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993, to find the wire that is hot with the head lights on, and splice to that wire.
