Trailer Hitch Mount Platform Bike Carrier for a 2013 Ford C-Max

Question:

Im looking for a hitch-mounted platform bike rack to fit on a Ford C-Max, one that isnt real heavy 50# but is durable and a decent value. I thought the Yakima holdup might be a reasonable choice, but would like your input on this or other brands/models. Hatch access with bikes loaded isnt a necessity. Thanks!

I think I have a great solution for you and your 2013 Ford C-Max. For a platform style bike carrier that is light weight and holds 2 bikes I recommend the Saris Freedom # SA4412B. This carrier holds the bikes at the wheels and frame and it weighs just 22-1/2 pounds! I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.

The Yakima HoldUp, # Y02445, is a decent carrier. It is going to be heavier than the Freedom and it is a larger carrier so it won't be as easy to handle but still a solid option if you want a carrier that can tilt and fold. But if the trailer hitch on your C-Max happens to be a Class I and not a Class II then this carrier will not fit.
