Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Reading
Question:
My p3 works fine for my 93rd and used to work on my flat bed, but I hooked it yesterday and it says no connection. When you turn a corner it will see the trailer , but when you straighten out it loses it. If you park with the trailer turned it will continue to see it for as long as youre there, but when you straighten out the rig it loses it. Changed stingers but no help.

The owner's manual for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 states 4 possible causes of a "NO Trailer Connection!" warning: the trailer is not connected to the tow vehicle, the trailer is connected with an open circuit on the brake line, the trailer connector came disconnected or is corroded, or the trailer brake magnet has a bad ground.
Since the Prodigy P3 # 90195 recognized the trailer at certain times, it sounds like there is a loose connection at the trailer connector, or loose connections within either end of the trailer connectors. It sounds like you may have already changed your trailer end connector. If this is so, I recommend starting at the vehicle end connector. You will want to ensure that all the wires are secure at their pins on the inside of the connector. If you have not replaced the trailer end connector, you will want to check the connections in that connector as well.
If the connectors aren't the issue, I recommend checking the trailer brake magnet's ground wire for any tears or damages. If each of the brake magnets are grounded to the frame, I recommend running them to the main trailer ground.
If neither of these troubleshooting steps provide a solution for you, I will be happy do provide further troubleshooting possibilities for you.
