When Mounting Transmission Cooler Does Inlet And Outlet Position Matter
Question:
Does it matter if the ATF flows from bottom to top or top to bottom through the cooler? I have a 1993 Chevy 1500 and I tow a 3200 pound trailer. I read that when ATF is cold, a stacked plate cooler shunts the fluid until it gets warmer - is this correct?

The orientation of the inlet and outlet does not matter when installing a transmission oil cooler on your 1993 Chevrolet 1500.
I have attached a link to the transmission coolers we offer that may work for you. You can use the drop-down menu to select the engine you have in your truck. I have also attached links to a couple helpful articles about transmission coolers you can check out.
The transmission coolers are not thermostat controlled so the fluid will flow through the cooler whether it is cold or warmed up.
