When To Use a Weight Distribution System When Towing with a 2011 Honda Odyssey
Question:
I have a 2011 honda odyssey at approx 4500# with 45 of weight in back and usually travel with the family of four plus stuff. I just got a aerolite cub 160 weighting 3000# wet but up towards the 3500# and was interested in your opinions on me getting a weight distribution hitch/sway bar for the van. I havent hooked it up yet but with the soft suspension have and idea that the rear is going to sag under any weight. I see that you have some light duty products for something this light. Is it worth it or even necessary? Thanks for your help

If the trailer you plan on towing weighs more than half of the weight of the tow vehicle we recommend the use of weight distribution. For your vehicle/setup I would strongly recommend a WD system. Especially considering how many passengers and cargo you will be carrying.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup. You should note that the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your vehicle should be considered tongue weight as well. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out.
Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup.
