What Information Is Needed From Existing Axle To Find A Replacement Axle
Question:
Im trying to figure out if this axle, 20545i-ez-72-15, is similar to the current axle on my trailer axle. The plate on my dexter axle says p-i6 model slr. Is there any way to figure this out, or would simply measuring my axle and getting the same length and hub configuration work?

In order to find a correct replacement axle for your trailer, you will want to match the existing axle's spring center measurement, hub face measurement, axle weight capacity, and wheel bolt pattern. I have attached a diagram showing where to measure to find the hub face measurement and spring center measurement.
My contact at Dexter was unable to provide any information on your axle based on the numbers you provided. There may be a sticker on your axle that includes a part number. The weight rating of the axle may also be located on this sticker.
The Dexter axle that you referenced # 20545I-EZ-72-15, is a 2,000 pound capacity axle, and it has EZ lube spindles. The hub face measurement is 72 inches, and the spring center measurement is 58 inches. The hubs have a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inches. The hubs have a 6-1/2 inch diameter flange and is designed for use with 13 to 15 inch wheels.
