Bike Rack Recommendation for 2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Question:
Good morning, About a year ago, yall helped me with a Curt hitch for my 2011 Mazda Miata. Now Im ready to replace the old Thule bike rack. Would you recommend a platform style or a hanging style? And which ones have you known to work well for these very small and low to the ground cars? Thank you so much

For your 2011 Mazda Miata, I recommend the Kuat Beta Folding 2 Bike Aluminum Rack # B202-114. This is a quality, light-weight bike rack designed to fit in 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers like that on you Miata. The Beta features an anti-wobble system to reduce rattle in the hitch receiver, and has a folding design to allow access to the trunk of the vehicle. The shank rise will help provide better ground clearance for your bikes. I have attached a review video of this hitch on a Mazda 3 for you.
If you plan on carrying bikes with alternative frames, such as kids' bikes or women's bikes, I recommend using an adapter bar, like # UB01. The adapter bar attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem. This allows the bike to be positioned more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a review video for this adapter bar for you.
