Will Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit HM56002 Fit 2011 Lincoln MKX

Question:

I see from you site that it fits a 2013 Lincoln MKX. Will it fit the sockets on a 2011 Lincoln MKX as well? I think they are the same, but need to confirm from you. Thanks, Rich

The Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56002 is confirmed to fit the 2011 Lincoln MKX. This wiring harness will provide you with a 4-way flat connector at the front of your vehicle to connect to your RV while flat towing.

I have attached help articles on the basics of flat towing and an overview of tow bar wiring. In order to flat tow a vehicle, you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety chains, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.

If you need a baseplate for you 2011 Lincoln MKX, the Blue Ox #BX2625 is confirmed to fit the 2011 Lincoln MKX without Adaptive Cruise Control. I have attached an installation video of these baseplates on a 2014 MKX.

The hitch mount tow bar I recommend that will be compatible with the Blue Ox baseplates is the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420. This tow bar includes safety chains necessary to comply with flat towing regulations.

As you reference before, the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring # HM56002 is a fit for your vehicle. This wiring will plug into your vehicle's existing wiring at the tail lights. I have attached an installation video on a 2014 MKX for you.

The supplemental braking system I recommend is the Blue Ox Patriot # BRK2019. The Patriot is a proportional braking system and will ensure that the brakes in your MKX are activated at the same time and with the same intensity as they are applied in the RV.

It is likely that you will need a wiring extension so that the tow bar wiring from your vehicle will reach the trailer connector on the rear of your RV. I have attached a link to our wiring connectors so you can find the correct one for your tow bar wiring and RV's trailer connector.
