Curt Weight Distribution System Recommendation with Extra Long Shank for Tailgate Clearance
Question:
Hello, Can you tell me the distance from the hitch pin where the shank would mount to the receiver hitch to the hitch ball mount? I am looking for a weight distribution hitch, but I need one that has a distance of at least 16 inches that would allow me to open my tailgate when the trailer is connected. Thank you.

I spoke to my contact at Curt and he said that from the center of the hitch pin hole of the Curt Weight Distribution system part # C17051 to the center of the hitch ball will measure right at 11 inches. He said that from the pin hole to the end of the shank measures 8 inches.
For a shank that you could use with this system that is overall 16 inches long you could use the part # RP3214. This would get you to about 15-3/4 inches long overall from the pin hole to the center of the ball hole.
