Will Using a Sidewinder Replacement Pin Box Damage a 5th Wheel Trailer Frame
Question:
I have a 2003 carriage cameo 35ks and a 6.6 fit bed 2500hd silverado. I popped out my back window recently when I got in a difficult spot and could not move my manual slider. I am tired of worrying about the slider getting stuck but like the way the the fifth wheel turns faster when backing with the slider in the slid back position. I am thinking about a sidewinder but am concerned about frame damage..any comments? I guess I could get and auto slider but wont I loose the quicker turning advantage of a manual slider or sidewinder?

To determine if a Sidewinder is permitted on your trailer you will need to contact the trailer manufacturer. Some frames are built plenty strong enough and others may not be and could be damaged from the additional stress.
If they give you the go ahead then I would need to know the manufacturer and model number of the pin box. This information should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box itself. With that information I can determine if there is a Sidewinder that will fit.
An autosliding 5th wheel hitch is a good idea if you cannot use a Sidewinder. I would not say that it is any slower than a manual slider hitch; especially considering that you don't have to get in and out of the truck.
We carry the Demco HiJacker line of autosliding hitches. The great thing about these hitches is that depending on the model used you could get 14 inches of travel for more clearance. If your truck has the industry standard above the bed rails you could use # DM8550034.
