Finding the Correct Bearing Buddy For 1998 Jayco Pop-Up Camper

Question:

Hello, I was wondering what set of bearing buddies I need for my 1988 Jayco pop-up camper. The wheels are 13x4.5JJ 5 lug wheels. Thank you.

You will need to remove the wheel find out the outer bearing number. Once you have the bearing number, I can find if we have a Bearing Buddy available for it. The Bearing Buddy pages also have listings on them for what bearings they fit.

Another way to find the correct Bearing Buddy is to measure. You will want to use a digital caliper to measure the inner diameter of the hub bore, where the grease cap sits. When choosing a Bearing Buddy, you will want to choose one that is a few thousandths of an inch larger than the hub bore opening.

The reason you have to go to such lengths to find out what Bearing Buddy Kit you need is that there are so many different variations in bearing/spindle/seal combinations that the only way to be sure you have the right part is to check the equipment you have.

I have attached a link to all of our Bearing Buddy parts for you. I have included a link to a video that demonstrates how to remove a hub and pull the bearings out.
