Troubleshooting Noise After Base Plate Install on 2014 Ford Fusion
Question:
2014 Fusion Energi installation is now giving off groaning sounds when steering wheel is turned or car goes over bumps - is this normal/expected result after installation? Likewise, is there expected brake loading due to added front end weight?

I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and he said it sounds like the noise could be coming from an electronic steering mechanism but you will have to check the vehicle itself to pinpoint the source of the noise. You could have someone ride in the tow vehicle and tow it around the block and pinpoint the source that way. The thing to remember is that when you are towing you want everything in the towed vehicle dead, especially all motors.
You should not expect brake loading due to additional front end weight.
