Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2003 Toyota Tacoma that Sags when Towing

Question:

Hi Etrailer, My recent brake controller purchase from you and the installation instructions were AWESOME, thank you. Unfortunately my 2003 Toyota Tacoma tongue weight is not strong enough for the Jayco Baja 12e pop-up. When I attach the trailer it s the rear end of the Tacoma to an unsafe level. Any suggestions?? I heard a weight distribution system may solve my problem? Thanks in advance,

A weight distribution system would be the correct solution for your 2003 Toyota Tacoma that is sagging. This will distribute some of the tongue weight of your trailer to the front axle of your truck which will help level the truck and improve braking and handling performance.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup.
