Running Lights on 2001 Chevy S-10 Not Lighting Up Using Diode Kit for Flat Towing

Question:

I have one of your wiring system installed on my 2001 Chevy S 10 that I sue when towing behind RVs and other vehicles I drive . At the present time the tail lights and brake lights dont work on my truck when wired to another vehicle. I do have power in the brown wire lights when hooked to another vehicle but the lights dont light. My signal lights still work though. The tail lights and brake lights do work on my truck when not hooked to another vehicle. Does this mean that the tail light diodes 2 are defected and need to be replaced? If so I will need to get these units ASAP so I can continue to be in business.

The first thing you are going to want to check is if running light power is making it all the way back to the diodes installed on your 2001 Chevy S-10. You would do this by connecting the truck to the back of the RV (or other vehicle you are using) and turn the running lights on on the tow vehicle. Then use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 if you need one. If there is no power on the input wire from the RV/tow vehicle, then the issue is somewhere ahead of the diode.

It could just be a wiring issue since you have power towards the front of the vehicle. If the lights on the S-10 were working fine before and then stopped and the wiring is still in good shape, then it very well could be a diode problem. For a 2-pack of diodes use # RM-792.
