How is Total Trailer Tire Capacity Determined for a Trailer with 2 Axles

Question:

on a trailer that has 4 st205/75r14 tires, the max weight the tires can take is divided evenly across the 4? or literally each individual tire? so a 3000lb trailer weight spread across the 4 tires is 750lb for each tire?

You are correct. To determine the tire capacity that a trailer has you would need to add up the capacity listed for each of the tires.

So if you have a 3,000 lb total weight trailer you would need each tire to have at least a 750 lb capacity. For your tire size that wouldn't be a problem at all.

For example the part # TR20514 has a capacity of 1,760 lbs at 50 psi so on a tandem axle trailer you would end up with 7,040 lbs of tire capacity.

This tire is unique in that it has a speed rating of up to 81 mph whereas most trailer tires can only go 65.
