Where To Install A Transmission Cooler On A 2009 Saturn Vue

Question:

I want to install a transmission fluid cooler on my Saturn VUE 2009 XR V6 FWD. The Hydra-matic 6T70 has its fluid lines running above the transmission, the pump being located in front on the vehicle. I thought of cutting the flexible hose of one of the fluid lines to the transmission cooler. Will the oil spill all around? Since the tubes are above the transmission, I thought that it would not flow a lot... Which line should I use, the one that goes out of the pump or the one that is plugged to the transmission? Thanks!

The transmission cooler should be installed in front of the air conditioner condenser for maximum efficiency.

The inlet line on the transmission cooler should be connected to the oil return line coming out of the radiator. The line coming out of the transmission cooler will be connected to the inlet line going into the vehicles transmission.

In my experience with other transmission cooler installations the amount of fluid lost is usually less than a pint. Also when installing the cooler you will need to be careful not to let any of the fluid get on any parts of the car that get very hot, like the tailpipe or catalytic converter.

After the installation is complete you will need to check the fluid level on the transmission and top off the fluid level.

One of our most popular transmission coolers for your 2009 Saturn Vue is the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13502.

I am sending a video link of the installation of this transmission cooler on a 2006 Honda CR-V.
