Differences Between Roadmaster Stowmaster # RM-501 And Falcon 2 # RM-520 Tow Bars

Question:

Hi there, Im checking out RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar - 6,000 lbs and the Roadmaster StowMaster Car-Mounted Tow Bar - 6,000 lbs and wanted to know what comes with each of these? And are there any glaring differences in quality? Thanks

Quality-wise, both tow bars are equivalent. Both have the same 6,000 lb capacity, but the StowMaster # RM-501 is a car-mount and the Falcon 2 # RM-520 is a motorhome mount.

The Stowmaster connects to the motorhome via a coupler installed on the tow bar. A ball mount and a 2 inch trailer ball would be needed. When not in use, the tow bar would fold up and store on the front of the towed vehicle for storage unless you wanted to remove it every time. The Stowmaster isn't compatible will all styles of Roadmaster Base Plates, only the EZ, XL and Standard.

The Falcon 2 is actually one of the most popular tow bars we offer. The Falcon 2 uses quick disconnects to attach to the base plate on the vehicle, and attaches to the motorhome using a shank that inserts into the receiver tube. When not needed, the tow bar would fold up against the rear of the motorhome for storage. The Falcon 2 is compatible with all Roadmaster base plates.

If you look at the thumbnail photos for each tow bar, you'll see what each tow bar includes. The Stowmaster includes the tow bar, and hardware to attach the tow bar to the base plates on the tow vehicle, which is what the Falcon 2 includes.

In order to flat tow your vehicle, you'll also need safety cables like # RM-643, a wiring solution, a supplemental braking system and base plates for the towed vehicle.

I'll link you to some FAQ articles about flat towing. If you'd care to reply with the year, make and model of towed vehicle, I'd be happy to make some specific recommendations.
