Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Adapter for a 2015 Ram 3500 Short Bed with Factory Prep Package

Question:

I just purchased a 2015 Ram 3500 standard bed 64 4x4 with the Fifth Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package. I am going to get a sliding hitch for it and wanted to see if there was one that is reccommended over the others. My trailer maxes out a 15K. I have a crossover box installed in the bed and if possible would like to be able to leave it in with the fifth wheel hitch. It is a weatherguard box the extends a little bit over the cab side pucks. I was not sure with the mounting system of the slider hitches if it will be able to go under the box or if it will need to just come out. Thank you

First, the toolbox will likely have to come out because even if it doesn't interfere with the hitch base it could interfere with the pin box on the trailer when making tight turns.

To install a slider hitch in your 2015 Ram 3500 short bed with the factory prep package you will need an adapter since none of the slider hitches are a direct fit in the Ram puck system. And for a hitch, I recommend going with a slider that has the most travel to help make tight turns.

For an adapter you can use # DM6099. Then for a hitch that offers 14 inches of travel AND that slides automatically without you having to do anything I recommend the HiJacker # DM8550034. I have included a link to a video review of this hitch for you.
