Trailer Hub Recommendation for a Number 42 Spindle

Question:

i have an old trailer that was home-built. not by me but by someone long ago. it has 7-14.5MH rims and tires. the old centerless rims. i want to change to modern drum brakes, and hubs. 12x2 brakes 6 on 5.5 i have checked the size of the bearings inside is 1.75 outside is 1.25. it looks like the axle was built for 5200 or more pounds. this is a tandem axle trailer as well. is there a hub that i can purchase that will fit the axle and take newer rims and tires?

Based on the dimensions you listed it sounds like you have a number 42 spindle. All you need to do now is verify that the surface of the spindle where the seal rides is 2.24 inches.

If so then the trailer hub like the part # 42866UC3 would fit and work well. It will require a trailer rim with an 8 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern though like part # TA26FR.
