Does the Lamp Out Bypass adapter part # 20142 Use Resistors to Prevent Lamp Out Error
Question:
I have a 2008 range rover supercharged with the factory 7 way trailer wiring, I also have a 16 foot enclosed trailer with all led lights. I have 2 problems, 1 is the truck does not see that a trailer is connected to change ecu parameters and 2ed i get check trailer light error message, I installed 4 6ohm resistors on the trailer to increase the load, one on each turn signal/brake light wire and 2 on the running lightsi also tried just one. This makes the truck recognize that a trailer is connected and also the turn signals work properly but it still gets the error when i turn the running lights on. So even with 50+ watts of resistors on the running lights it show a bad bulb just when running lights are on. I have traced and checked all grounds, The resistors are wired correctly from power to ground, There are no shorts ect. My question is, Does this plug just have internal resistors or does it use some other kind of circuity to trick the car into thinking the bulbs are ok? If they are just resistors i dont think it will work but if it has something else going on i will give it a shot.

The Lamp Out Bypass adapter part # 20142 that you referenced basically just has resistors in it to simulate the load of incandescent bulbs to prevent the lamp out error.
It could be that the resistors you installed on your trailer have enough resistance to get the lights to function properly but not get rid of the error message.
