Tongue Weight Capacity for the Hitch Receiver for Rampage Rear Jeep Recovery Bumper # RA86611
Question:
2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with Rampage Rear Recovery Bumper/Tire Carrier. If I understand this load rating correctly, this receiver can withstand 350 lbs of static load, correct? My question: If I have a 50 lb cargo carrier, a 15 lb extension, then I theoretically can load up to 285 lbs of cargo, correct? Does this load rating also take into consideration dynamic load or bounce? Hitting a decent bump at 65 mph on the freeway can easily convert my 350 lbs of total cargo to a weight that greatly exceeds the designed load rating...your expert service is greatly appreciated.

The 2" Hitch Receiver for Rampage Rear Jeep Recovery Bumper # RA86611 that you referenced does have a 350 lb tongue weight rating. That means that it can handle 350 lbs of vertical weight under normal driving conditions. Tongue weight ratings take into account the normal amount of bumps that you would experience while driving.
However, when you use a hitch extender like you mentioned you end up cutting the capacity of the hitch in half as the extender adds additional leverage and movement in the hitch.
