Recommended Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System for 3500-lb Axles

Question:

Looking at these axle less suspension systems it gives a capacity of say 3,500 or 2,000. Is that per side or in total like an axle system? I have a 7,000 lb trailer with leaf spring tandem axles. Should I got to two sets of 3,500 axle-less? I want to go from street tires to entry level off road tires. I will pull on the highway most of the time but then hit moderate sand and rock and beaches. Which system should I use? Thank you.

The Timbren axle-less suspension systems like # A35RS545E and the others shown on the linked page are rated as a pair, as if they were a standard beam axle. It is possible to use two sets of these on a trailer (but not three) so if you want to replace a pair of 3500-lb beam axles you'd need two sets.

Timbren offers these kits with or without hubs and brakes. If you choose a system without hubs you'll need to make sure that your current hubs use the same bearings as the Timbrens to ensure they will fit on the Timbren spindles. If you choose a system with hubs, make sure it matches your intended wheels' bolt pattern.

The kits are also offered with straight spindles, or spindles with drop or lift, to allow you to alter the deck height of your trailer. Timbren axle-less systems offer more ground clearance than beam axle suspensions.

The Timbren Axle-Less suspension system may require additional support on your trailer. If your trailer does not have a crossmember above the spot where you want to install the Timbren system, you may need to reinforce the frame. You can accomplish this three ways. First, you can retrofit the trailer with a crossmember. Second, you can build out the trailer frame. Third, you can use standard, 2-inch steel tubing to connect the 2 Timbren suspensions together using the built-in square hole on each unit.
