Friction Sway Control Recommendation for a Ford Escape with Class II Hitch
Question:
I have a 2008 Ford escape with a class 2 hitch. I am looking at upgrading to a hybrid trailer and am wondering of their is a maximum weight or size this would work for. I would also have to add the adapter plate as well. the trailer I am looking at is 18 feet and dry weight is just shy of 2500 lbs. including packed items it would not exceed 3000 lbs. My escape and hitch are rated for 3500. Would this sway system be sufficient for this type of trailer?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Since you have a Class II hitch with a 1-1/4 inch opening you would want the sway control bracket part # RP26005 to use with your current ball mount so that you could install and use the Reese Friction Sway Control Unit part # 83660.
This sway control unit work would work on a trailer that weighs 3,000 lbs.
