Hitch Mounted Bike Rack 2011 Toyota Sienna and 1998 Toyota Rav4
Question:
I am looking for a hanging bike rack for 4 bikes, that will fit a Toyota sienna 2011 and also a Toyota rav 4 1998, the rav 4 has a spare tire affixed to the back, I would like your best recommendation since you have always given me great advice in the past, I have a 2 inch hitch on the rav 4 at the moment and I will also be purchasing a hitch for the sienna soon. Thank you for your help

The rack I recommend that is a confirmed fit for your 2011 Toyota Sienna and 1998 Toyota RAV4 is the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Carrier part # TH9027XT. Not only does this rack have every feature on most standard racks like anti-sway cradles, arced arms, anti-rattle locking hitch pin, and integrated cable lock it also has the ability to swing away from your vehicle with bikes loaded to give you complete rear cargo access on your vehicles whenever needed. This rack will have plenty of clearance between the spare tire of your Rav4 and the upright bar of the rack. With other racks like the Thule Hitching Post Rack part # TH934XTR you would need to remove all of the bikes to gain access to the rear cargo area of a bike rack.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame tube that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike) I recommend using an adapter bar, # TH982XT, to carry those bikes more level and provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
